It's one of the first questions restaurant owners and food brands ask when they're thinking about a shoot: "How much is this going to cost?"

It's a fair question, and one that deserves a straight answer. Food photography pricing in London varies widely — from a few hundred pounds for a half-day to several thousand for a full commercial production — and understanding what drives that range helps you make a smarter decision for your business.

This guide breaks it all down honestly.

Why food photography prices vary so much

Before we get to numbers, it helps to understand the main factors that affect what you pay.

Time. A half-day shoot (typically 3–4 hours) costs less than a full day. Simple enough. But "time" also includes the hours after the shoot — culling hundreds of images, colour grading, retouching, and delivering finished files can take as long as the shoot itself.

Number of images. A shoot that delivers 10 hero shots requires different planning and editing than one delivering 40 varied images across dishes, atmosphere, and team content.

Styling. Some shoots require a food stylist — a specialist whose job is to make dishes look their absolute best on camera. This adds cost but also significantly improves results, especially for complex dishes or packaged products.

Usage rights. An image used on a restaurant's own Instagram costs less to license than one used in a national advertising campaign. For most small and medium London restaurants, this distinction rarely matters — standard personal and commercial use for your own business is included in most photographer's packages.

Experience and equipment. As with most professional services, you pay for skill and track record. A photographer with five years of food work and a strong portfolio commands higher rates than someone just starting out.

Typical food photography prices in London in 2026

These are realistic market ranges based on what London food photographers typically charge:

Half-day shoot (3–4 hours, 10–15 edited images): £300–£600

This is the most popular option for cafés and restaurants wanting a focused set of hero shots — a seasonal menu update, a new dish launch, or a Deliveroo listing refresh.

Full-day shoot (6–8 hours, 20–40 edited images): £500–£1,000

A full content library covering menu dishes, atmosphere, team, and social media-ready images. Enough content to post consistently for 2–3 months.

Commercial product photography (food brands, packaged goods): £800–£2,000+

Packaged food products require a different approach — controlled studio lighting, precise colour accuracy, and often multiple angles for e-commerce and packaging use.

Food styling add-on: £200–£500 per day

Not always necessary, but worth considering for high-end menus, launch campaigns, or brand imagery.

What's included with Lia Photography

At Lia Photography, our packages are designed to be clear and fair. There are no hidden costs for travel within London, and all packages include:

• On-location shoot at your restaurant or café

• Professional lighting setup (we don't rely on luck with the weather)

• Styling guidance and composition for each dish

• Full editing and colour grading

• High-resolution and web-optimised file delivery within 5–7 working days

• Usage rights for your website, social media, and delivery platform listings

We're transparent about our pricing because we want to work with businesses that see this as a genuine investment — not a reluctant expense.

Is professional food photography worth it?

For most London restaurants and food businesses, yes — significantly.

Consider that a half-day shoot costs roughly the same as two or three days of paid social media advertising. The difference is that the photos keep working for you indefinitely. A great image you shot in March is still attracting customers in October, with no additional spend.

The return on investment is especially clear on delivery platforms. Better images directly improve click-through and conversion rates — and on Deliveroo or Uber Eats, even a small improvement in conversion translates to a meaningful increase in monthly revenue.
